Before jumping into trades, it is important to understand how to move around your MetaTrader platform. This short guide will walk you through the basic chart navigation tools you will need so you can set up your screen exactly how you want it. Whether you are adjusting chart sizes, switching between pairs, or opening new charts, we have got it all covered right here.
Step 1: Log In to MetaTrader
Make sure you are logged in to your MetaTrader platform. You will not be able to access or manage any of your charts unless you are properly signed in.
Once logged in, you will see several charts displayed on your screen. These are your active trading charts for different currency pairs or instruments.
Step 2: Adjust the Chart Layout
To adjust a chart, simply click and drag the edge of any open chart window. You can drag it up, down, or sideways depending on how you want to organize your workspace.
If you want to remove a chart from view without closing it, click the minimize button on the chart window. This will hide it while keeping it open in the background.
Want to focus on just one chart? Click the maximize button to view it in full screen. To completely remove it, just click the X button on the chart window.
Step 3: Switch Between Charts Easily
If all of your charts are in full-screen mode, you can still switch between them by using the tabs at the bottom of the chart area. Each tab represents an open chart.
Want to close a tab? Just right click on the tab and select Close, or you can use the shortcut CTRL + F4. You can also close a chart tab by clicking the X in the upper right corner.
Step 4: Open a New Chart
To open a new or different chart, go to the Market Watch panel on the left side of your screen.
From here, choose a pair you want to trade. For example, if you want to open GBPUSD, just right-click it and select Chart Window.
That will instantly open a new chart window for that pair.
